Are you shopping online yet?

We have been having the mofsd, Malaysia’s Online Fashion Directory, since mid 2007 and I must say that it has been growing by leaps and bounds. Everyday, we get someone signing up and be listed and judging by that, one can definitely assume that it is because this is definitely a moneymaking industry although not to extent of eBay, it is something that is growing from strength to strength.

Of late, what used to be a secret passion for shoppers and a cult-ish following for some shop owners who design their own things or some entrepreneurial spirit who buys and sells in small quantities to make pocket money,  has blossomed into a full scale business for others. Some online shops has quite a following with regular updates of ranges and others have progressed from online to brick and mortar but more often than not, brick and mortar shops have realized the importance of online presence.

But yet, mushrooming as it is, it is a still fairly new phenomenon with a number of people from ages of 18 t0 39 years old who proclaim their skepticism about shopping without actually touching and looking at the real thing. This may come from past bad experiences but more often than not it is from just not wanting to step out of convention or their comfort zone. Surprisingly though these same people who denounce online shopping may have in some point of their lives, bought maybe books or pay bills online. But therein lies a difference in their minds only.

So kudos, to the brave souls, some who claim addiction and others who do it out of pragmatism; like ease of shopping,  cheaper goods and wider accessibility of products  due to the seamless world of the internet. To a lot of people who are not computer savvy like the Gen Y, shopping online is akin to a the death sentence of being exposed to the nerve wrecking  world of computer technologies. But fear not , shopping online is in reality, not at all tech restrictive but is in fact very user friendly; one just needs to learn how to turn on the computer and to type of course. But the computer will be the way of life and the sooner we take this bitter pill and swallow it the easier it gets. It is like stepping of a cliff for first time, it gets easier after initial fear and the adrenalin rush may convert you forever.

So my question is, are you one of those who embrace technology and shop online or are you a sceptic?
