Get your cheeky on

There’s an art to applying blusher and we’re here to tell you how. It takes only two minutes (once you read the below) and you’ll be able to master the trick! Blusher brightens your face instantly and it gives you a pretty natural flush too!

How to do it right:

1. Choose a colour closes to your cheeks, like when it’s flushed after exercising or being in an air-conditioned room. Another trick is, to match it to the colour of your lips. For dark skin, colours like dark red or apricot makes a good match while those with fair skin should stick to colours like olive peach and rose.

2. There are many different types of blusher, namely powder, liquid and cream-based. Cream is great for dry skin as it blends well while liquid based blusher works better for those with oily skin. Stains like Stila tends to dry really fast so you might want to blend well and fast around the apples of your cheeks.

3. Blusher is the last to be applied after your foundation, eye colour and lipstick. But, that’s just us. If you like the look better under the foundation (although less prominent), go ahead and see which works better for you.

4. Only use a blusher brush to dust the powder on your cheeks and don’t mix your brushes. Tap excess powder once you dab the brush into the powder.

5. Look into the mirror and give your biggest smile. This will determine where the ‘apples’ of your cheeks are. Using your fingers or your big brush, blend the blusher in shapes of circles on your cheeks. If you dabbed a bit too much on your cheeks, blot the excess off with a tissue. For an extra glow, a sweep of translucent powder will do just the trick. Voila, your pretty rosy look is now complete.

Here are some of the prettiest blushers we’ve found.
