Want to have the season’s most wanted looks off the runway?

Makeup extraordinaire Bobbi Brown shares with us some of the looks she created for major designer labels during New York Fashion Week for Spring & Summer 2009.

BRIGHT EYES AT RACHEL ROY

Rachel’s collection – as always – was laid-back but elegant.

To complement the clothes, I kept the makeup basic, except for purple accents on the eyes.

Face: I left skin entirely bare, without a stitch of foundation or concealer. For definition, I swept a bit of bronzer onto cheeks.

Eyes: Eyes were focus of the makeup. First, I used Orchid Long-Wear Cream Shadow as a base colour on the lid. To add depth, I layered Mulberry from the Bobbi Brights palette on top of the orchid. I then smudged Violet Long-Wear gel eyeliner onto the lash line to create a deep, smoky eyes, finished with several coats of Black Lash Glamour Mascara.

DEWY METALLIC AT ERIN FETHERSTON

Her collection was very beautiful, delicate and angelic. To complement the clothes, Erin wanted sparkly eyes with a bit of strength.

Face: I made sure the models’ faces were well-moisturised, so their skin looked dewy

. I then dusted the appropriate Illumination Bronzer onto their cheeks dependant upon the model’s skin colour. It gave their faces definition and a hint of sparkle.

Eyes: To play up the fantasy aspect of the clothes, the eyes had to be metallic and sparkly. We started using Sunlight Sparkle Eye Shadow as an all over lid colour, followed by a layer of gold. I swept Lavender Metallic Eye Shadow on the lower lid. In the crease, I used Velvet Plum Metallic Eye Shadow and layered a sheer dusting of Glitz Metallic Eye Shadow over it. To finish the eyes, I smudged Violet Ink Long-Wear Gel-eyeliner onto the lash line for definition. I finished with two coasts of Black Lash Glamour mascara.

Lips: To balance out the strong eye, we wanted to keep the lips natural but with a pretty sheen. Nougat Lip Gloss worked perfectly.

SUMMER LOUNGING AT CYNTHIA ROWLEY

Cynthia’s collection was athletic, so I wanted the models to look fresh, clean, and sporty yet sexy – like they’d just gotten out of a pool.

Face: To add a bit of sheer, glowing colour to the cheeks, I used my new Light Pink Sheer Colour Cheek Tint. I then pressed Extra Face Oil deep into the complexion, creating a seriously dewy finish.

Eyes: I wanted the lids to have a sheer wash of colour that looked ‘wet’ so I patted Glacier Lip Gloss over them. I also tousled the brows a bit wit Natural Brow Shaper to create a windswept look.

Lips: For a fun, sexy lip, I applied a mix of pink and orange lip colours, then topped it off with Tangerine Lip Gloss. The combination of the bold lips and the simple, dewy skin was one of the most stunning looks for spring.
