Remember the eighties when the big shoulder pads ,Bobby Brown harem pants were a big deal, in more ways than one , well, guess what? And you heard it here first, as told to you previously and again , the eighties is back and in a big way  and this trend will extend until at least autumn winter 2009. So any pieces bought this season would be worth its money in wear time.

Super sized shoulders are back again and the best part about it , is the versatility of the look. It isn’t as hard and aggressive or manly  as we remembered it, the shapes and forms have changed.

They come in various shapes and textures , taking on an understated but definite  feminine strength and determination. This is my compilation of  the 6 different wearable looks that carries the trend  whilst retaining it’s own identity. So no more loose big shoulder padded jackets only- the shoulders now can go higher , wider or even rounder, it shifts from soft see through to detailed pleating. Wear it with slim bottoms like pencil skirts or pencil pants and or belt it cummerbund like at Louis Vuitton (my favorite collection this season).

This myriad of modernistic approaches for the big strong shoulders it is as if to lessen the burden  it will carry with all this impending (yes,  I am still in denial) talk of a  depressed economy. It’s like a subliminal message carried across by most designers that seem to say, nay shout;  if you  can’t beat it , you might as well enjoy the journey message. Well, hail to optimism and may fashion make the economy spin around!

Lastly, how to  be a tower of feminine strength you ask, well complete the outfit with super high heels of course!

  1. Oh wow, shoulder pads have actually made a come back on the runway! Time to bring out yr clothes from the 80′s. The new fad really doesn’t look that bad, probably because the models are superslim & slender. It’s Definitely not for me!

  2. Yeah, probably will look good on slim & tall people :)
