Ted Baker turns 21 for spring
By: Cherrypop
Well known for their exciting store displays (there was a huge cuckoo clock for its window display not too long ago), British high street luxury label Ted Baker began in 1987 when it launched as a men’s shirt specialist. It quickly grew to accommodate a repertoire of womenswear, accessories, fragrance, footwear, eyewear and watches.
Ted Baker also remains one of the only brands to be built into an international designer label without an advertising campaign and relies on word of mouth and extraordinary marketing tactics. Hence plenty of personality can be expected from each collection.
This spring, the label’ s inspiration was found right around the hustle and bustle of energetic London. Using the green of Regent’s Park, the red of London buses and the occasionally blue London sky, the colourful mix of influences resulted in a bright and wearable collection.
In womenswear, Ted Baker offers summery dresses in light fabrics that are versatile and breathable. For daytime chic, there is a plaid silk, shift dress and jersey pleated-front creations that are reminiscent of Grecian-style evening glamour. Another option is an asymmetric ruffle silk dress which combines structure with feminine softness.

For men, pastels are right on trend if you pair a light pink pullover over a baby blue shirt and grey work pants. For women, a plaid dress with a bow and a red belt is accentuated with red pumps. You can wear with a mint green blouse underneath for a fun work ensemble.

Guys can opt to mix and match floral prints in the form of a floral tie and shirt, while a teal cardigan preps and tones the patterns down. This blouse and skirt combination can be worn to work with some serious accessories like a structured box tote and black pumps, then livened up for after work drinks with a bright handbag and some colourful, strappy heels.

A dress to wear outdoors to a cocktail party or even a garden wedding, this accentuates the shoulders and the pleats at the hem draw focus to the legs too

A touch of nautical is brought up with a white and navy cardigan and flared skirt combination, topped off with a perforated white fedora.

Dance the night away in a slinky silver top with a cowl neck but be sure to put that double sided fashion tape to good use to ensure there are no unwanted flesh flashing!

A silky painted dress is smartened up with a black blazer, which worn with black tights, is suitable for work. Go bare legged and wear super-high gladiator style heels for the night.
With sunnier days in mind, hemlines in the collection are a little shorter. A striking green mac safeguards against the odd April shower. There is also swimwear available featuring a paisley all-in-one swimsuit, as well as tropical palm and rainbow stripe bikinis. Then to round off the collection, bags this season include a zebra print shopper, a patent structured box bag and a straw clutch.

A green trench coat that is lightweight, worn belted over a mini dress is a great cover up in a chilly room.
For men, colourful and refined casual wear takes pride of place alongside the signature Ted Baker tailoring. Candy striped, gingham and checked shirts add some summer fun to a usual plainer wardrobe. Team the shirts with tailored shorts, a sharp mac or zip front jacket and you will be ready for anything, come rain or shine.

A blazer like this can be dressed down for the day with a casual long sleeved tee underneath and knee-length shorts, while for the office, it’s best to pair with pants of the same colour and a pastel shirt underneath and tie.

Mix and match your patterns like this stripes and plaid pullover and shorts, making sure that you keep to the same colour family to avoid colours clashing.

A preppier weekend look is matching a cotton short sleeved shirt tucked into dark shorts. The look is pulled together with a tan belt and you can match this with tan loafers sans socks.
