Last Saturday, Telekom Malaysia (Malaysia ‘s leading integrated information and communications group), relaunched their revamped website Hypp.Tv (www.hypp.tv), the first broadband TV in Malaysia. This site offers a wide range of online video content covering a variety of genre ranging from News and Current Affairs, Variety & Entertainment, Sports, Lifestyle and movies and dramas. According to Jeremy Kung, Executive Vice President, Consumer, TM Group and Emily Wee, General Manager of Content and Digital Media, TM Net Sdn Bhd, they intend to achieve 30-40% of Streamyx’s 1.5 million subscribers by the end of this year, and trust me you want to be on board this hyppe.

Another one with a different pose:

Bloggers were also invited to hypp-er up this event. So all we bloggers came dressed to a tee as some famous entertainment character. I was supposed to be Hermione Granger but had to opt out due to some minor mishap which my wizard’s wand couldn’t hex a way and ended up as a photographer for everyone instead. Karen Marie went as Princess Leia of Star Wars, The Shaolin Tiger went as Elvis Presley, which was quite hysterical because he would strike an Elvis pose for all the photo opportunities. Tzia went as Catwoman and she looked awesome in the outfit. Cynthia and Ringo came as Audrey Hepburn and ABBA. Joyce aka Kinkybluefairy and Shinyee came as a rockstars. Budiey came as a footballer. We also had Huai Bin aka SixthSeal came as Captain Jack Sparrow from The Pirates of Caribbean complete with a shotgun, a bottle of Rum and eyeliner. He looked hot , “I was be-witched or was be-wizard, man”, it was like he stepped off the Hypp.TV movie into the Hypp.TV party, ooh la la!

How does Hypp.TV work?
If you are a Streamyx subscriber, you only pay RM9.90 a month and you get a chance to buy into this exciting channel, watching uninterrupted movie on the computer/laptop, a luxury that is new for most people, but here you have it. However for maximum viewing pleasure it is recommended for Streamyx speed of 1.0 Mbps or higher. So if you are asking why bother to sign up like I did, well let me tell you if you ever need to watch 10 fashion shows downloaded from the internet, having uninterrupted latest videos from them is quite brilliant. Same as when I last downloaded that superhero series the last time, oops, now I can watch most of my favorite shows for a much cheaper rate and still be ahead of time and very quickly.
The variety , 30 channels of broadband video in all, quiet incredible wouldn’t you say. Some of the channels include Channel News Asia,Al Jazeera English, CCTV4, Bloomberg TV for the news buff. For the sports fan, they have Barclays Premier League highlights and 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, and for fashion (yes!) they’ve got Fashion TV and RED TV. Other than that, they also have a spooky channel called Channel 99 Debar, Zee music and Bollywood entertainment, popular Korean and Chinese soaps and Wow TV for Hollywood’s latest update.
Aside from overseas content they also have channel which is little like a Malaysia boleh thing where contents are produce locally for instance Luxe TV, Warner’s Bros Sorority Forever and Wedding TV and that is just for starters. There will also be Video On Demand and interactive services like web shopping. On top of that there will also be free channels like Channel News Asia, Local Scene and Aniworkz(videos produced by Malaysia’s top creative students).
