Fash Fab
By: karenmarie
I’m sure some of you have seen Fash Fab photos and buzz on Facebook. Some of the online shops actually had their very own fashion show already on Fash Fab. Fash Fab is an event where boutiques/online shop owners get to have their very own fashion show. Their main objective is to promote local designers and boutiques. This event is located at Twenty One Kitchen + Bar at Changkat Bukit Bintang.
This event is a great opportunity for all serious online shop owners with a passion for fashion.
Emmagem asked Biresh Vrajlal, founder of Fash Fab a few questions about Fash Fab and I’ll summarize it into a FAQ style for you to read.
What is Fash Fab all about?
FashFab was setup to promote local designers/boutiques. As long as the boutiques are unique in concept and local.
Who has showcased their collection on Fash Fab previously?
Kariza Designs, Micah Boutin, Michelle Hee, Baci Boutique, Drunk with Emotions and others.
How many items are allowed to be shown at a Fash Fab event?
Designers are required to show at least 10 designs/dresses. No changes allowed during show taking into consideration the size of the venue. This is because Twenty One Kitchen+ Bar is a small restaurant.
Is there any payment involved to join?
There is no payment for them to take part, as the restaurant encourages the event to take place. The only payment is that the designers/shop owners must provide 50 goodie bags for the early birds. This can be in forms of accessories, gifts, vouchers and etc. If its a men’s brand, then we pass it to the first 50 men and if its a ladies brand then to ladies of course.
Does Fash Fab provide models?
Nopes.Models must be provided by the designers/shop owners. Biresh suggested that maybe getting their hot friends to model would be nice. His vision is to get real people to model for he brand instead of the usual stick thin models.
This sounds great, can I sign up?
They are currently booked up to June 2009, but they are looking for more young, upcoming local designers and brands.
Sounds interesting, can anyone go watch?
YES! There is no cover charge. Biresh Believes that “everyone is welcome to walk in as I strongly believe that fashion is for everyone and not the elitist view like some organisers have”
What time does it start?
You can come in at 10pm. This is when you can come and hang out, buy drinks and mingle with the designers themselves. At 11.15pm, the fashion show starts. Later in April 2009, there will also be a sales booth for the designers to sell their items on that day.
Any upcoming major events?
In December 2009, there will be a 5 day FashFab back to back showcasing the best of the best.
Fash Fab is the place for young upcoming designers to show off their designs to fashionistas and party goers. The event has got a huge following. Even if you’re not a designer, go watch the fashion show. After that, chill out at the lounge and party your night away.
