Fluttery lashes
Oh, don’t we all love mascaras? What’s the fastest way to brighten up your eyes than to coat your lashes with your favourite mascara… Even if you’re in a rush to go out, all it takes is just a few swipes and you’re ready to go (even without eyeshadow). The buzz (pun intended) with today’s mascaras is the sudden influx of cool and nifty designs that look like they come out from a sci-fi film.
Givenchy Prism, POA
Take Givenchy Prism, for example. It’s a revolutionary spherical-shaped brush that promises instant and perfect curving and lengthening of your lashes every time. Sounds like an impossible dream, right? Well, Givenchy’s ground-breaking spherical brush is made of elastomer (a type of rubber) which ensures a perfect application that will reach even the tiniest of lashes at the corners of your eyes. Its revolutionary design promises to stick at lashes starting from the roots for a clump free, smudge free application.
The unique thing about the formula is that its texture is made from a unique combination of water and polymer which guarantees a long stay application. Once applied, the water evaporates allowing the polymer to shape, separate, and lengthen the lashes. This unique liquid formula ensures that the mascara doesn’t harden or stick together at the end of the day.
How to apply? Because it’s a conventional mascara, try it at different angles you can think of: horizontal, vertical, up and down – till you get the hang of it. Trust us, it may look daunting at first sight but it’ll make a cool conversation starter everywhere you go, each time you whip it out.
Lancome Micro-Oscillation Mascara, RM120, available April 2009 onwards
The longitudinal micro-oscillation system of the powermascara performs no less than 7,000 vibrations per minute for perfect formula application, perfect 360° coating around each and every lash. Micro-oscillation is activated as the thumb presses the applicator. Place the brush at the lash root and smooth it towards the tip, maintaining pressure on the button.
Thanks to its micro-oscillations, the powermascara allows each lash, even the shortest and most hidden, to be perfectly coated and reshaped from root to tip. This controlled application method ensures no gaps are left and allows every lash to be coated 360° in intense black.
This exquisitely simple technique ensures lashes have a pure finish, with absolutely no trace of clumping. The texture is ideal to work with as it allows for repeated applications to obtain an ultra-sophisticated make-up result. The applicator’s affinity with the formula helps to open up the eyes, giving them new depth, without any risk of over-application.

Estee Lauder Turbolash All Effects Motion Mascara, RM115
A lash revolution is taking place with this nifty product. Now, with the simple twist of the cap, you can power on a ground-breaking new mascara and create lashes you’ve always wanted. It combines an innovative formula and brush design with a unique micropulsing effect that allows the brush to penetrate deep into the lash bed and comb through lashes more quickly and effectively. Powered by a button cell battery, the micropulses of the LashSonic Brush oscillate at a cool 125-cycles per second, enabling the brush to move rapidly through the lashes, powering away clumps and buildup and delivering expert separation.
This unique gel formula consists of jellified water, olive oil, paraffin waxes for effortless and buildable application. A blend of micas and microspheres help the micropulses give smooth and easy volume to lashes. It’s ophthalmologist-tested, fragrance-free and safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Alicia: the oscilation is really good at making your eyelashes lengthen and curl. Owh, you go to a Lancome stall at and they will measure and like diagnose what type of lashes you got and advice on which to use. Quite cool. haha.
As for the other two I’ve not tried.
I also love Dior’s Diorshow Iconic or Kate’s Mascara(I forgot whats it called). These two does really lengthen my lashes

Alicia: I used to use Chanel as well but I must say that Dior Iconic is really good when smudging is concern because I take it thru my RPM spinning class (major sweat) and really no smudges.
Oscillation is really easy to use and quick for getting nice curly lashes without perm but smudgewise not tested yet shud be okay for day to day wear.

i tried both lancome oscillation and estee lauder turbolash mascara in klcc isetan. i love estee lauder turbolash mascara. i could totally see my lashes much longer and it does curls up on its own. the only thing is you have to apply a few times. lancome did not wow me coz the effects looks like any other lancome mascara. maybe the tester has already dried up. which is not a good sign. i must say estee lauder has done it right this time.
