How to match colours to your zodiac animal sign this New Year?
By: yetmee
Okay, fess up , haven’t you been told by your mama that you have to wear red on the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year! Every new year, I go on autopilot and buy one item of red or at least in the red family tone. It is de riguer and a personal tradition for me. Sometimes I buy a glam piece, other times I just buy a casual piece to lounge in during the day. It is a a purchase steeped in traditional beliefs and one should always strive to be a little traditional at least once a year, shouldn’t one?
When we wear red in Chinese tradition or culture, we are supposedly able to harness in good vibes and cast away the evils . This is because the colour red is sound like the word “ang” meaning lucky. Otherwise wear loads of yellow , because yellow or “wong” means also lucky.
But having said that is there such a thing that when on wears red in certain years it just won’t do it for one’s animal zodiac sign but another colour like yellow may be considered more auspicious. Feng shui Masters Yap Boh Chu and Ooi Wai Loon have both debubked that myth, colors don’t matter to your zodiac animal sign or to your feng shui luck in general. Although some others believe that in a particular bad year wearing red may help bring in some luck , like some kind of sugar coating. Different schools of thoughts, but I think if one believes and feels more assured wearing red, go for it. So wearing red is bit like DIY feng shui since feng shui and good luck is really about the mind set. The right feng shui is not just about the external elements, a person’s actions can do a lot to change his or her luck. This is called “man luck” , no not just lucky with men or for men. It means man in general , as in whilst we are born with a certain destiny our actions ultimately concludes that destiny. So if you feel good and feel happy, luck gets attracted to you. So , to do or not to do…as a wise man once said about feng shui or good luck, why disbelieve and every little help counts these days.
There are of course those who are averse to wearing red because red is such a bold color, let’s explore various ways when red can be both charming and assertive rather than aggressive.
