Color of the Year – 2009
By: karenmarieWho actually predicts colour trends for fashion lines?

I remember watching the Devil Wears Prada and Miranda Priestly explained how the colour Cerulean was chosen for a fashion season. In reality, its true!:) Designers and colour professionals do set the trend of what’s going to be hot judging from previous seasons and also the current situation. Two color professional boards that are setting the color trends are Color Marketing Group and Pantone.
Pantone’s 2009 colour of the year would be:
MIMOSA YELLOW
It seems that in times of bad economy and uncertainty, the color, Mimosa serves as a warm color that expresses hope and reassurance.
According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”
So you can expect 2009 to have this hue in most of the designs from clothes to furnitures, Pantone assures that you will feel warmth from the color
Color Management Group predicts the year’s colors. For next year, they’re predicting:
- Purple – (Emmagem loves purple, if you didn’t notice already) According to CMG, purple is the “must have” color.
- Blue - With everyone going environmentally friendly, green is now over, and let’s welcome BLUE to represent the environment. After all, besides the trees, the sea and skies are blue
- Cooled-down, Greyed-out Browns and Greys
- Yellow – 2009′s stand out color!
- Bright Accents from India, China, and Turkey – These includes all those colorful fabric colors from Sarees and cheongsam. Those hot pinks, turquoise, teal, yellows etc
- White – With different finishes
- Muave – Muave is actually a purple-ish/lavender-ish colour.

Pantone on the other hand actually sets what are the trends. Pantone surveys what are designers top 10 colors of the season. Here are their prediction for spring 2009:
- Fuschia Red
- Salmon Rose
- Palace Blue
- Lucite Green
- Super Lemon
- Dark Citron
- Lavender
- Vibrant Green
- Slate Grey
- Rose Dust
It incorporates loads of bright colors and also some grey-ish dusty grays and browns. Designers themselves chose bright colors and incorporated them into their Spring 2009 collection. They include(among others): Carmen Marc Valvo, Peter Som,Nanette Lepore, Miss Sixty by Wichy Hassan, Christian Francis Roth, Rebecca Taylor, Baby Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons, etc. Read this report to see their designs and what inspired them.

I love yellow too but I think it’s not only yellow but also brown and gold. And it actually depends what animal sign are you. It varies then depending upon the animal sign.
It would be nicer if you will be more specific.
