Fairy Fashionista
By: Sharyl
Meet Joyce Wong, although I’m quite sure she does not need any introduction. Joyce is a well known celebrity blogger and a managing editor of Tongue In Chic, who blogs at www.kinkybluefairy.net. And of course, she is a fashionista who loves parties. She recently was chosen to be on THE COOL LIST on Juice’s Magazine’s Top 40 Cool people.
Joyce is a busy little bee but she managed to spend some time for our feature. She had so many awesome items on her. Joyce bought the white throwover is from Nurita Harith, Malaysian designer who was in the MIFW ’08 show recently as well. The bead necklace is redesigned by Ashley, her friend. The middle darker blue beads are actually pearls taken from a ring and the square necklace is from Aldo. Now, only a true fashionista would think of that!
The grey top is from AllDressedUp. Noticed the black mini skirt? Well, that’s actually a tube top worn as a skirt purchased from Sungei Wang. The watch is from Swatch. The tights are from Topshop. The bag is purchased from a bazaar sale at UOX party. And lastly, the sandals are from Charles and Keith.
Joyce’s style changes over time. According to her, she loves layering, so that no one would come to an event dressed the same. Being original is what sets her apart and straight onto being a fashion icon. Throwovers like the one in the picture, is great for officewear or to create a different look for a different occasion. Another key to her style is accessories. Notice the two necklaces instead of one? It adds to the attitude one is having.
When asked what inspires her style, she says, she wears clothes that suits her body shape. She focuses more on emphasizing her best features which are her arms and shoulder. She flaunts more of them and hides of what she thinks aren’t her best assets.
This celebrity blogger prefers not to plan on what to wear for the next day as it is time consuming and would rather go-with-the-flow. For instance, if she wakes up in the morning and feel like wearing red, that’s what she’ll wear. Less headache, more time for other things. For work, Joyce wears something that is more comfortable. Like the sandals she’s wearing, instead of opting for the killer heels that’s meant for parties later in the night with the exception of events that have a certain dress code, then of course she will dress accordingly.
Now what can we learn from this fashionista?
“…style changes, wear what you are comfortable in, and nothing is wrong or right in the fashion world!…”

Nimi , you have your own style too.. you just have to decide which one is it… layering may work or may not for you… I too can’t do layering with that nonchalant chic that Joyce does so well, so I do other things … style is just a manner of wearing clothes that suit your personality and lifestyle!
