Sneak Preview of the new Maybank2u.com
By: karenmarieE banking is a lifesaver! Isn’t it? Which e-bank do you prefer to do your online transactions??
I remember doing a HOW TO DO E-BANKING IN MALAYSIA post earlier and used Maybank2u as an example because I myself use Maybank2u like almost everyday to reload my credit, shop online and other transfers.
Well, just on Monday, Maybank2u (M2u in short) pre-launched their new “face” of M2u version 2!
M2u has been operating in Malaysia for so long and they were the first ever bank to go online. Yeay Maybank! I believe they were around for more than 8 years already. So, the team behind M2u thought that the website needed a change since the first one made a long time ago. And I think so too. The current older version of M2u is very cluttered and its like everything is everywhere lah. But, nevertheless, I still use it as it is convenient as hell. No lining up in banks (THANK GOD!) just to deposit money to someone for that awesome looking clutch you bought online.
So what’s new at the new version?
In case you forgot what the old M2u looks like here’s a screen shot:

This is the newer version:

What’s changed is definitely the whole layout of the website. From cluttered too many words homepage to a more classy black looking spaced out homepage with less words and more images. The front page also has shortcuts and tabs which makes things easier. The “HELP” section is also more visible on the new M2u. I remember having a crisis of transferring to the wrong account and omg, searching high and low on where to get help and who to call. Now everything is on the front homepage. Easy Peasy.
What I love is the Tabs of different areas of the bank that is relevant to us users. On the front page itself, there are links to the most frequently used featured at M2u. I bought something online just recently so I will show you how the new way of funds transfers work (Because, thats all that is important to us online shoppers anyways right?)
How to transfer funds to a third party account?
1. Log in! there’s a big login sign on the top right corner of the page.
2. You will reach a page like this with all the features offered by M2u.

3. Then Click “Accounts and Banking”. You will reach a page like this below. With all your banking details. Of course if you have more accounts with Maybank, you will have more lines below lah
I only have one.
4. Then Click Transfers on the left panel and you will reach a page like this. Click on GIRO Transfer if you want to transfer to a different bank account.

5. You will reach a page where there will be options asking for you to choose which bank and also request for a TAC number. Like below: So step 1 of 4 steps to transfer starts from here!:)

6. Step 2 of 4 asks users to include all necessary details on the transaction.

7. Step 3 of 4 shows you again, what are the details given and by this time, you will get the TAC account already:) Fill it in.

8. Step 4 of 4 Finally, you’re done!! Make sure you send the transaction code to your online shop, so that they know its you:)

Quite user friendly eh? I don’t quite like the colour scheme on the transaction pages. A bit boring. lol. That could be because, I like bolder colours. But then again, its a bank! Have to be formal a bit. Maybe its the faded faint yellow which makes the site look dull.
What do you think about the colours and new design? Share with us!
The new M2u will be launched in October. Till then, you only get to see print screens. Stay tuned for the launching of the new M2u.
