Well, 2008 Olympics is coming to an end…let’s celebrate the victories and defeats in equal measures because competition at the end of day is really competing against oneself and true sportmanship will prevail. Hey , even Malaysia won a silver medal , so that ’s not too bad….

Unfortunately that’s how everybody thinks that silver medal was as good as it gets because although Lee Chong Wei did a brilliant job and got to the finals at the end of the day , the real question is did he really believe he deserved to win the gold medal (judging from his performance). For that matter did the whole country… or did everyone think well,he’s come so far that is pretty good and against China, well silver shud be acceptable…did we really believe he will win , or did we want to see him win but deep down believing he never had a chance . And if we did , what does that say about us in times of challenge , when will we believe we are good enough? Just a thought…

Anyway, today we will celebrate the fact that beauty and talent can go hand in hand in this modern times. In fact beauty with brains and or brawn is quite in style and necessary. See some gold medal winners that set many a hearts thumping. These girls did not just win , but set the new record and showed their prowess in their chosen fields. Leryn Franco from Paraguay, the javelin thrower is also a model and beauty queen, talk about conflicting images. Guo Jing Jing from really at the end of the day, just wants to go home and relax and cook for her boyfriend another athlete. Yelena Isinbayeva , showed the world for the record that she is the best she started jumping at only 4.5m when some other athletes were beginning to bow out.

I guess the new beauty regime for healthy lean bodies should be diving, javelin throwing and high jumping…

We also paid a tribute to Liu Xiang, China’s track hero who had to bow out due to an achilles heel injury, whose bow out caused the whole country to break down in tears…
