Cupcakes have become a HUGE craze these days. Everyone just can’t get enough of this sweet goodness. The craze first started in the United States of America when cafes sprung up and started selling cupcakes. Soon, the whole online world started showing their love for cupcakes and the rest, as they say, is history.

Malaysia is not very far behind, with famous cupcake stores such as Cuppacakes selling their cupcakes online. We are also one step ahead when it comes to baking cupcakes. Cafes like Marmalade, Bijou and Delicious have already jumped on the bandwagon and are showing off cute cupcakes on their dessert tables. Cupcake chefs are even opening up stalls at The Curve to sell their cupcakes.

So, why do people love cupcakes so much?

  1. Can we spell C-U-T-E
How can you not love the small little things with sweet frosting on it? The prettier it is, the more “oohs and aaahhs” you get from people.
  2. Yummylicious combination
Icing (or frosting) + cake = yummy!
My mouth just waters when I think about cupcakes.
  3. Un-Domestic Goddesses can bake too
Cupcakes are very easy to bake as it is small and you do not have to worry about whether or not the insides have baked.
  4. The Variety of flavours!
Cupcakes are not about butter cakes and icing only. There are more cupcake recipes than that. Just take a look at Never Bashful with Butter Blog. There, you can find lavender and coconut cupcakes and even vegan cupcakes for all you vegans!

How to get started?
Just follow a recipe online, and you’re set to go!

Just make sure that you have an oven, cupcake baking trays, icing tools, and all ingredients in your house.

The most important part of a cupcake is (of course) the frosting! Cupcakes without frosting are just like any other cake. But what sets a cupcake apart from any other cake is the pretty frosting.

There are many ways to frost a cupcake. My personal favourite is butter cream frosting. Just make sure that you beat the mixture nicely so that it becomes soft and fluffy white.

Once you have made your icing, add in a splash of colouring and with an icing tool/piping bag, you can start icing the cupcake any way you want. Use your imagination and creativity to create cupcake designs that are over the top, or just plain simple with rainbow sprinkles.

Have fun with baking by experimenting with cupcakes today. It is very therapeutic to bake and frost cupcakes.

If you really don’t want to bake, you can always visit these online bakery shops to purchase your lovely cupcakes:
