Kerastase Care and Protect Campaign

Over the past 2 and the half months, Kérastase and UNICEF has been collaborating to raise funds for UNICEF and to prevent violence against children. The Care and Protect Campaign was first introduced in February not only to gain funds, but to raise awareness of Malaysian Citizens of the issue of violence against children.

According to the organizers, violence against children can happen in any form, physically, psychologically even through discrimination, neglect and mistreatment. Violence towards children can happen anywhere from homes to schools. According to the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, 1656 children were reported as child abuse with sexual abuse being the highest. Malaysia too is also a source, transit and destination country for trafficking women and children. With high statistics of child abuse, children’s rights are taken away and children also loose the ability to live healthy and longer.

Therefore, UNICEF and Kérastase joint ventured to pursue this project together to raise fund and raise awareness among Malaysians. 3 international designers, Zang Toi, Donna Chew and Beatrice Looi has created a limited edition bag that communicates the message that UNICEF and Kérastase wants to tell everyone. With 50% of the proceeds going to UNICEF, these bags were made available to purchase at Kérastase Salons around Malaysia for RM15 each. RM30,000 was made through the sales. All these money will proceed to UNICEF to continue raising awareness and preventing child abuse from happening through their Child Protection Program.

Kudos to UNICEF and Kérastase for a job well done. Let’s just hope the money raised are put into good use and more and more children will be saved from violence.
