Malaysian Online Shopping Sites

compiled and review by karenmarie

Stuck at home with 3 kids and a baby coming along? Too tired from walking around malls and browsing through shops by shops? Too many assignments to hit the mall? There’s an easier way to shop! And it’s called, online shopping! Many Malaysians do not go online to do their shopping, mainly because they are afraid of credit card frauds (according to a survey), but mostly also because they are unaware of such sites that exist.

Jewelery

Vanity Vault - http://vanityvault.blogspot.com/
The designer sells self made jewellery from semi precious stone at very reasonable price. Most of them are one off piece because it is done out of love for jewellery making and not to make money, according to a fan of her jewellery. The jewellery’s names are very sophisticated: Aztec Azure, Sienna Bouquet, etc. You can find load of precious stones charm bracelets, diamante necklaces with flower motives and many more in various colors.

· Pros: Items are categorized. Easier to navigate what to see. Reasonable pricing.

· Cons: Limited items per design. No feedback seen on the website.

Minz - Chic, unique, Eclectic - http://www.minz.com.my
Minz has a line of very pretty chunky earrings and bracelets that are made by hands and all pieces are one offs. Something like the previous designer. According to the website, “minz evokes an imagery of a stylish princess with a rough edged sophistication, exuberating ultimate vanity, elegance and charm.Revel into a world of fun, flirtatious and oh-so-girly contemporary pieces with a vintage touch for that yesteryear appeal.” Pretty much self explanatory!:) Minz is not only an online shop, it has also reached the press and the media!

· Pros: The crystals and gemstones are imported and there are good feedbacks from the customers, as seen on the website.

· Cons: The items are quite pricey.

Lingerie

Mall of Malaysia - http://www.mall.com.my/
This website offers a wide (very wide) collection of kinky lingerie. When i first logged on to this Mall of Malaysia website, i thought i would get a really Malaysian mall with traditional items sold. But, to my shock, it was a website selling kinky lingerie. They sell sexy g-strings, “passion” sets, game sets, men’s panties (huh?) and couple sets. So, if you want to have a sexy and kinky time in the bedroom with your partner, this is the place to visit. Besides, no one will know what you bought as compared to buying in a shopping mall and get stares from the sales assistants guessing what you’re going to do later tonight. So, what are you waiting for, get your bunny suits now!:)

· Mode of Transaction: Order online or by Phone. Shipment of items to Malaysia and neighboring countries.

· Pros: Getting to buy kinky lingerie in the comfort of your own home

· Cons: Only one size for each lingerie piece.

Cosmetics

4 All Beauty - http://www.4allbeauty.com.my/shop/
4 all beauty is a one stop place for all your beauty needs. This shop started of because they saw that many women don’t have enough time to go out and get their beauty products because of their hectic lifestyle. So, they decided to make it easier and offer to sell beauty products online. They also sell fragrances, some Kawaii clothes and slimming products. Some of the brands they carry are Adidas, Dodo Club, Esprit, Estime, Gianni Versace, Givenchy, Guess, Kanebo, Kate, L’oreal, MNG, Pink Kiss,Salt Beauty, Schwarzkopf, Senscience, Shiseido Fuente and many more. Products sold here are also about RM5-RM20 cheaper than market prices.

· Mode of Transaction: Credit Cards, Maybank2u, shipping of items.

· Pros: Items are cheap and they offer many discounts. Live support available.

· Cons: They carry many brands, but some of them only have one or two items.

Auction Sites

Auction sites work almost the same. A seller puts up an item to auction. Buyers bid for the item within a time frame and when the time is up, sellers usually contact the buyer with the highest bid to collect their items. Usually transactions are done using credit cards, Pay Pal or even e-banking and items are shipped through post.

· E-Bay - http://ebay.com.my/

· Lelong - http://lelong.com.my/

· Web Portal - http://www.webportal.com.my/auction/browse.asp

Everything else

More Sales - http://moresales.com.my/
More Sales is a Malaysian Online shop that sells things from electrical goods to household items, Cd’s, books, clothing, and even pharmaceutical items! They claim that their items are way cheaper than the market price because they don’t have a physical shop and they save money there. There are very little choices in the fashion section. Most of the items are imported from Korea. They do have an extensive collection of swim wear and bikini’s, though.

· Mode of Transaction: Paypal.com and shipping. No COD.

· Pros: You can finally buy household items online with this website that has a wide array of items. Cheaper than market price.

· Cons: Not many choices of clothes in the Fashion Sections. No exact sizing chart.

Tumpang.com - It make cents! - http://my.tumpang.com/
This website has an unique concept. Tumpang is a Malay word and according to the website “”tumpang” is a Malay word for an action when a person wishes to buy an item together with another person or a group of people, like car-pooling.” So, in other words, people post their items here and ask other buyers if they want to buy them, so that sellers can go and buy them in bulk, so that its cheaper. The amount of money you saved from buying one piece items, as to the bulk you’re going to buy will be changed to “Toints” which is a currency used in tumpang.com. The more points you collected from your savings the higher rank you have in the website. Unique concept. most of the sellers “tumpang” to get handbags, textbooks, electrical gadgets and some really bizarre stuff like a “Pet Plant”!

· Mode of Transactions: Depending on the seller. Meet ups are encouraged.

· Pros: You get to keep that extra cent!

· Cons: Getting people to buy the same product like you want. Not many people has the same taste as you.
