Summer to Fall Fashion Transition

By: yetmee

Fall/winter collections are coming in and in fact most shops like Zara and Dorothy Perkins have already brought out their Fall/Winter collection 2006.

So what are we to do with our spring summer pieces that are hardly three months old? Well fear not, there is a lot of overlapping still between the spring/summer and autumn/winter collection which can maximize the mileage of your shopping spree.

In Autumn/Winter (read What’ Hot-Autumn/Winter by Anne H.), grey color is in, red is in, layering is in… black is always a staple and never more so then autumn/winter. Keep your linens and cottons in our weather still, but use color and accesories instead to get in style.

Here are some of emmagem’s recommendations for maximising spring/summer best pieces with autumn/winter in trends.

  1. Whites - so well worn this summer can be matched with your dark browns, greys, reds and of course black. Match a dark brown jacket with a pair of white pants for a cool look.
  2. Metallics - still very much in, use your silver metallics and match with black or grey and bring out your chain bags, sister…
  3. Sheer summer dresses - can be worn layered with a pair of leggings. Leggings previously mentioned by emmagem as a fashion revival item is now a fashionista must have. Leggings apparently keep everything in.
  4. Dresses Tops - same concept as above, not too short yet not long enough ie skirts that just stop 4 inches above knees, can be matched with leggings, sheer chiffon skirts or jeans. The trick is layering.
  5. Fiery summer reds - are now worn to warm up the winter nights. Mix and match with black, wear with dark colored suits and maybe just wear those red dancing shoes and brighten up that grey suit.
  6. Accessories:
    1. wide belts are still very in and tie a bow with your soft belts if possible. Soften the look of a jacket or blouse with these accessories.
    2. jewellry - wear your black with gold and wear them long and chunky
    3. go for volume
