Boys Night Out - What Really Happens?
Watching Football. Playing video games. Partying. These could be the various things guys do when they get together with their male buddies. They’re loud and obnoxious, just the way we hate it. That’s exactly the reason why they need these nights. Some girls handle this fact well and some don’t. Some guys handle their girlfriends’ insecurities well and some don’t.
Many women claim how they feel about a boys¡¯ night out depends heavily on the activities that it will encompass. Things like hanging out in a mamak or at a friend¡¯s house do not normally cause any worry. However, partying with the boys regularly can sometimes cause nervousness. The usual combination of drinks, scantily clad women and obnoxious male friends is the usual cause of discomfort to the idea. Most admit that the trust they have in their partners usually keep them from worrying though on bad days, this can sometimes be challenging. It is also important that at times like these, guys take the necessary steps that will reassure their partners that they¡¯re only having innocent fun.
There is however certain codes of behaviour which women, no matter how worried, should adhere to. They should never pester their partners with incessant phone calls. You’re upset, he gets agitated and everything will blow out of proportion. Message him discreetly or call once. Tell him to call you when he gets home. Also, never ask to join in. If there aren’t any girls, he CAN’T bring you. He’ll lose all sense of ego in front of his friends and this will have him annoyed at you the whole night which defeats any point of you being with him that night. Lastly, NEVER turn up at where he is. Everyone knows you weren’t just “in the area”, so save yourself the trouble of finding a good excuse and just stay put.
Guys on the other hand should understand where their girlfriends or wives are coming from. Depending on the activity, there should be different levels of required reassurance. Even if in your eyes, it is absurd that she¡¯s acting that way, try to remember that she¡¯s with you because she think you¡¯re a hunk of a man and the best catch ever so she¡¯s just afraid of any competition. If you know that a certain place or person might cause her any worry, a call during the night or a message letting her know what¡¯s happening would minimize any damage. It¡¯ll only take a minute and avoids that huge row you might have otherwise.
Emotions defeat reason. No matter how much you try to rationalise feelings, it is a difficult task. Insecurities sometimes get the better of us. Still, there are always ways to deal with it. It is however for both sides to work at. Ladies, let them be boys. After all, who wants to listen to football stats, belches or their fantasies of Jessica Alba? Keep the fun bits and leave all that to the boys; and of course, have YOUR girls’ night out.
